While flurries of snow have dusted the cobbled streets of St Andrews, the waves of the North Sea have been busy whipping up a creative confection for both students and townsfolk to enjoy. You would have to be living under a rock not to have heard that the On The Rocks arts festival is virtually a stone’s throw away from us. The entirely student-run arts festival, which proudly vaunts an iridescent array of art forms, from photography and film to fashion and theatre, will sprinkle its artistic sparkle over the town from the 6th – 15th April. Although the snowflakes are unlikely to continue falling in our newfound winter wonderland, there is hope that the magic inspired by On The Rocks’ Programme Launch will keep our quaint town feeling like it belongs in a fairy tale.

From 8pm until the clock strikes twelve on March 8th, The Adamson will transform into a jazz club for the evening with the helping hand of a band whose name is yet to be revealed. Expect a night of glamour and intrigue, as mystique shrouds even the cocktail menu. While the standard cocktail menu will be available for guests to savour at a cost of £5 per drink, a limited edition, On The Rocks-inspired concoction will be added to the bar’s signature cocktail collection for one night only – a luxury most fitting for an occasion when dressing up in your chicest dresses and suits is only a slice of the fun.

As you soak in the intoxicating atmosphere of the soirée, you might start to wonder how you will further adorn your calendar with similar social pursuits. Fear not, as one raffle ticket bought at the launch party could see you scooping free tickets to one of several upcoming events. These include tickets to the Charity Polo Tournament, the Blue Angels’ 50th Anniversary Dance Showcase, and a performance of Twelfth Night for you and a friend to enjoy. And what’s more – one lucky winner will bag themselves a collection of signed Joanna Lumley merchandise! If that’s not a recipe for an Absolutely Fabulous evening, I don’t know what is.

The On The Rocks Programme Launch will take place on Thursday, 8th March from 8pm – 12am at The Adamson. Entry to the event is free.
