Immersed

Water stealing the air,

Like a precious jewel thief.

Empty and bereft,

I hear its mocking laugh.

I’m clutching, clasping; its grip drags me,

Down and down into the darkness.

Sinking, submerged,

I am forgotten and I am ruined.

I can’t hold on for much longer,

Life feverishly wasted in squander.
