... Of the Week: The Tide That Moves Me

Welcome back to a new academic year and a new round of weekly music finds! "… Of the Week" is a weekly column dedicated to a new body of music that I come across during the week, which I feel deserves attention, and so write about it!
This past week one of my favourite finds was Orlando's (previously Orlando Volcano) new EP, released via Gobstopper Records, entitled "The Tide That Moves Me". Taking influences from Jamaican bashment, the UK new-wave of weightless grime and US R&B, the Brooklyn-based producer provides dancehall-inspired, upbeat yet lightweight vibes. Described as ‘sweetboy riddims’ by Boomkat, Orlando’s influences are clear yet he makes this EP his own with a very unique sound within electronic music.
