Just like that, Reading Week is over and Halloween is approaching. This weekend is the time to dress up however you want and have fun with costumes. If you haven’t prepared a costume yet, don’t fret! This article will help put together a quick outfit with clothes that you can find in your wardrobe.

Individual Costumes

Since Halloween is approaching fast, I will include some individual costumes that are the easiest to put together with clothes that you will be able to find in your wardrobe. It is a classic, but an angel and devil costume means you can find your own look by using the clothes you already have, especially with Halloween so fast approaching! The easiest options are a fairy, witch, devil, and angel. You could wear a red dress, red skirt and top combination, or even black jeans and a red top for the devil look. You can’t forget the devil horns, which are an easy addition that absolutely completes the outfit. For a fairy, you could go with any monochrome outfit and wings, for a witch, an all-black outfit with a witch hat, and then finally the option for a duo costume with an angel either in all black or all white. Again, this is similar to the devil in that you can wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable with the must-have accessories of wings and a halo. If you have worn these before, a more unique last-minute costume could be the Disney princesses, as any colour dress that matches a princess would work with a tiara. These outfits are definitely quick last-minute choices that you can personalise to make you feel most comfortable for the night.

There are also more modern costumes that can be put together quickly. Movie icons are especially fun to dress as with options such as Legally Blonde, Wolf of Wall Street, Mamma Mia and Clueless. If you happen to have some yellow gingham in your wardrobe, this is of course a classic costume. But there are so many great outfits that can easily be created as well, such as the iconic Calvin Klein dress in which you would only need a white slip dress, or the Y2K outfit pictured below.

Another option in popular culture are celebrities! These costumes mean you can express your taste in music or famous icons. Keeping with current topics, a Britney Spears outfit can be really fun and also easy to find in your wardrobe. An easy way to find costumes are watching music videos of your favourite artists and then replicating them. They also serve as a great talking point at a party!

Group Costumes

Any of these costumes discussed above can be made into duos, trios or larger groups. For example, an angel and devil, the Mamma Mia trio, and a group of Disney Princesses. Along with the artists, groups such as the Spice Girls can mean each member of the group can express their personality. Another easy costume for groups this Halloween is Scooby Doo. These outfits can be interpreted to your own style but could include:

Daphne-purple dress and green scarf

Velma-orange and red skirt and top combo

Freddy-white shirt, blue jeans, orange ascot

Scooby-all brown with face paint and ears

Shaggy-brown flares and green top

This can also be done with The Wizard of Oz, these again can be interpreted with what is in everyone’s wardrobe.

Tinman-white/silver top with jeans

Lion-jeans and a orange top with blown out hair Scarecrow-brown skirt and blue top
