I visited London for the first time this weekend. I have never liked large cities (or small cities) because the crowds, noise, pollution, and general hustle culture has always overwhelmed me. Nevertheless, I was looking forward to my trip because I was ready for an adventure (and to get out of St Andrews for a few days!). When I got off the train in Kings Cross Station, I think my heart skipped a beat. I had had very little idea of what to expect in London, but it certainly was not what I found. I was blown away: a building covered in art; a futuristic bright red elevator pod on the outside of a black and white cube building; the sprawling continuation of the transport system in gorgeous 1850s architecture – and that was before I had even taken a hundred steps. However, most of you reading this will have been to London or will have seen enough photos to feel as though you know the place. So, I see no point in once again showing pictures of the Big Ben, Westminster, double decker buses etc... Instead, I will take you on a mini tour of the little things, which I think are what truly gave London my heart.
